The main frustration for Mourinho and his side was that they didn’t do enough to top the group.

It means that United will be unseeded in Monday’s draw, and could face any of the 12 group winners, including Schalke, Roma, and Shakhtar Donestk, as well as the four best third place sides from the Champions League.

However, one they can’t meet are Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs, who they face at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, but there are still enough talented sides in the draw who could cause United issues in the last 32.
