What’s Hot and What’s Not from the EFL

League One Not: Scunthorpe United

Scunthorpe boss Graham Alexander.

Scunthorpe United hopes of finishing in the top two were dealt another blow. Graham Alexander’s men suffered a 3-2 defeat to Gillingham at Priestfield.

The Lincolnshire outfit have subsequently dropped down to fifth in the third-tier, having not won for nine outings, which include four defeats on the spin.

On Saturday, it was a tale of three penalties that turned the fixture in Kent on its head.

With Scunthorpe two up through Paddy Madden and Harry Toffolo, Josh Wright netted a hat-trick of spot-kicks in the final 13 minutes for the Gills to inflict even more misery on the Iron, who somehow returned to Glanford Park empty handed.
