What’s Hot and What’s Not from the FA Cup third round weekend

HOT – Plymouth

Honorary mentions must go to Lincoln City, who drew 2-2 at Ipswich, and Sutton United, who forced a replay with AFC Wimbledon, yet it’s difficult to argue that the result of the weekend belonged to Plymouth Argyle.

The League Two promotion chasers produced a resilient performance to draw 0-0 at Premier League giants Liverpool on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp made ten changes to his side that drew 2-2 at Sunderland last week, with only Emre Can retaining his place, yet his young team – the youngest in the club’s history – couldn’t find a way past Derek Adams’ side, who deservedly held on to earn a replay.

The Pilgrims deserve enormous credit for going to Merseyside and not being overawed by the occasion, and they’ll certainly fancy their chances of an upset when they host the Reds at Home Park in eight days’ time.
