Paul Pogba has been improving in recent weeks, but had a nightmare against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Manchester United man had already been found wanting when defending set pieces before getting himself into a complete muddle attempting to clear James Milner’s cross, resulting in him blatantly handling the ball, and allowing Milner to give the visitors the lead from the spot.

It wasn’t just his defensive contribution which was poor, as the French international struggled to have any impact on the game, and was guilty of missing a decent chance prior to Liverpool taking the lead.

Pogba repeatedly lost possession and didn’t do enough to help Ander Herrera throughout the contest – when you spend £89 million on a hugely talented player, these are the sort of games you want him to step up and make the difference.

Yet Pogba didn’t on this occasion.
