Arsenal’s other scorer that day, Nwankwo Kanu, went down in Portsmouth folklore in 2010, as his goals in the semi-final and final of the FA Cup clinched the then-struggling Premier League side its second title in the competition.

However, he played a part in Arsenal’s unbeaten season in 2003/04, and left North London in 2004 having scored 44 goals in 197 appearances.

West Brom acquired his services that year, and he spent two seasons at the Hawthorns before moving to Portsmouth in 2006.

The Nigerian international played 87 times for his country, and he is one a select few players to have won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA Cup, and an Olympic Gold Medal.

In 2015, Kanu opened a modelling agency in Nigeria, just months after undergoing heart surgery for a second time.
