The 2007/08 campaign was Alex’s first full season in the Chelsea first team, despite signing at Stamford Bridge three years earlier.

He made the move to West London in 2004 but was sent out on loan to PSV Eindhoven for three years, but returned to Chelsea and proved what a solid defender he was with several fine displays at the back.

Well known for his incredible shot power and lethal free-kicks, the former Brazilian international moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2012, and spent two years there before moving to Italian giants AC Milan in the summer of 2014.

Alex hasn’t officially retired from football, but hasn’t had a club since leaving Milan earlier this year.
