Manchester United face a defining night in the Champions League as they look to book their spot in the last-16 when they take on Wolfsburg.
A win for the Red Devils in Germany, or defeat for PSV Eindhoven at home to CSKA Moscow, will see them advance.
But if the Dutch side better United’s result then Louis van Gaal’s side will crash out at the group stage and into the Europa League.
It won’t be easy for the three-time winners at Wolfsburg who, despite topping the group, need a result themselves in order to guarantee qualification.
United, who lost to PSV and drew at CSKA Moscow in their previous two away matches, are paying the cost for their goalless draw at home to the Eredivisie at Old Trafford a fortnight ago.
And with Dieter Hecking having won both their Champions League and six of eight Bundesliga matches at home so far this term, many are predicting a tough night for the Premier League side.
Another worry will be the lack of goals in the team this term, with LvG’s men having found the net just five times in five European games and seven times in their last 10 outings in all competitions.
However, the visitors will take heart from their 2-1 comeback win over Wolfsburg in September’s reverse fixture; Juan Mata (pen) and Chris Smalling with the goals to grab them their first points in this year’s competition.
United will be without captain Wayne Rooney (ankle), Morgan Schneiderlin (hip) and Ander Herrera (hamstring) for their crucial clash.
Defenders Phil Jones (ankle), Antonio Valencia (foot), Luke Shaw (leg) and Marcos Rojo (shoulder) are also sidelined.
For Wolfsburg, Luiz Gustavo (back) is a doubt, while Felipe Aliste Lopes (foot) and Robin Knoche (ankle) ahve been ruled out.
