Recent reports suggest that Chelsea made a £40 million bid for the young Frenchman on the final day of the window, and speculation was rife that he was moving to Stamford Bridge when he was seen in London on deadline day.

However, it turns out that Dembele, who has scored 20 goals in 38 games for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, was having a scan on a knee injury, and thus a potential move to England was not on the cards.

Nonetheless, Conte is clearly interested in the young forward, who many see as having a huge future in the game, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Blues reignite their interest in the summer.
