The first game of the fourth round weekend sees Championship side Derby take on Premier League champions Leicester, and this one has certainly got the look of an upset.

Steve McClaren’s Rams are seventh in the second tier having won 12 of their 27 league games this term, but their form since McClaren returned to the club in October has been extraordinary.

Derby were 20th when the former Newcastle boss took over on October 12, but since then they have picked up 33 points from 16 matches, having won ten and drawn three of those games.

Add in the fact that they haven’t lost any of their last nine games at the iPro, and Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes will have their work cut out on Friday night, especially because their recent form has been poor.

The league champions have won just two of their last eight games in all competitions and, despite winning 2-1 at Everton in round three, that is their only domestic away victory this season, having lost eight and drawn three of their 11 Premier League away outings.

Back-to-back 3-0 defeats is hardly ideal preparation going into an East Midlands derby, and you can bet that Derby will be well up for knocking the Premier League champions out of the FA Cup on Friday.
