Defensively, there aren’t many sides in the Premier League better than Tottenham.

Their tally of six goals conceded is easily the least of any side so far this season, with Chelsea the next best with nine.

And, when you look at the Spurs back five, you can see why.

Hugo Lloris is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and in Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, they’ve got two of the best centre-backs in the division, and they form arguably the best central defence partnership in the league.

Kevin Wimmer and Eric Dier are also more-than-able deputies and, despite Alderweireld’s injury, Spurs have retained their solidity at the back.

The first choice full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose are also first choice for England, and there is some serious competition for that berth, and both have improved defensively in the last season or so.

Add in the excellent defensive midfielders Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama, and Spurs are going to be very tough to beat this season.
