Burnley are one of several clubs willing to offer Chelsea defender Gary Cahill a contract, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues club-captain’s time at Stamford Bridge will come to an end after this weekend as his contract expires at the end of the season.

But it is claimed that Burnley boss Sean Dyche is willing to give the 33-year-old a Premier League lifeline, as the Clarets plan on adding experience to their backline for next term.

While it is reported that the veteran centre-back will need to take a pay cut to accommodate his next move, there are seemingly a number of top-flight options for the former Bolton Wanderers man.

Cahill has gone from first-team regular to fringe player under Maurizio Sarri.

Cahill has had a disappointing season in terms of game time, as the former England international has had to settle for just 22 minutes of Premier League action, with Maurizio Sarri often opting for David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger as his centre-back duo.

But Cahill can look back on happier times with the Blues since his £7million move from Bolton in 2012.

The Aston Villa youth product has two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a Champions League to show for his seven-and-a-half-year tenure in West London.
