Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a move for FC Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

Despite having only joined the Catalan club from Liverpool for over £140million in January 2018, the Brazilian has struggled to impress on a consistent basis in Spain.

This has led to El Confidencial reporting that he will be allowed to leave the Camp Nou and that Chelsea are keen on a deal.

Eden Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and it’s claimed the Blues have earmarked Coutinho as a potential replacement should their star man move to the Bernabeu.

Coutinho scored 54 times in 201 matches in five years at Liverpool.

But the London club must first successfully appeal against a two-window transfer ban Fifa have slapped on them for breaching rules in relation to youth players.

If they are to overturn the decision of football’s world governing body then it’s thought they could be able to land the former Liverpool star for a fee of around £86million.

Coutinho has been in and out the starting line-up this term but did recently score a wonderful long-range effort in Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final victory over Manchester United.
