Just a week after dispatching Leicester, Chelsea welcomed Jose Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge ten months after sacking him.

The Portuguese boss returned with his Manchester United side struggling for consistency in the league, having won just one of their preceding five matches, and they found themselves behind after just 30 seconds when Pedro got the better of David De Gea.

It set the tone for a sensational performance from Chelsea, who doubled their lead 20 minutes later through Gary Cahill, and then made it three when Eden Hazard finished off a fine move 17 minutes into the second half.

The excellent N’Golo Kante made it four eight minutes later in what was a ruthlessly excellent display from Conte’s side, who at the time went up to fourth in the table.

The new 3-4-3 system appeared to be paying dividends for the Blues, and they haven’t looked back since.
