Rangers will have to fight off interest from Liverpool in order to keep starlet Josh McPake at the club, according to reports.

McPake starred as Rangers defeated Old Firm rivals Celtic 3-2 in the SFA Youth Cup Final last week.

The Daily Record are reporting that his performance has caught the eye of Liverpool, who are though to be monitoring the attacking midfielder along with AS Roma and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Steven Gerrard has been impressed with young midfielder Josh McPake.

And with just one-year left to run on his contract at Ibrox, the Gers are keen to tie down their Academy Player of the Year on a longer term deal.

Signed from Hibs at the age of 14-year-old, McPake has impressed Rangers first-team boss Steven Gerrard.

The Liverpool legend, whose nearing the end of his first season at the helm, has even hinted that he could hand the teenager a senior debut before the end of the campaign.
