Manchester United ‘really close’ to signing Bruno Fernandes as Liverpool attempt to hijack the move, according to the Daily Star via Italian journalist Pietro Balzano Prota.

English trio United, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been reported to be chasing the midfielder recently, as they look to strengthen their midfield.

Sporting Lisbon value their prized-asset at €70million and are unlikely to budge on that fee before letting Fernandes leave the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to strengthen his midfield.

Italian journalist Balzano Prota claims the Old Trafford side were close to getting the deal over the line:

“Two teams are now contesting for #BrunoFernandes,” Prota tweeted.

“#ManUtd were really close to sealing the deal but now #Liverpool have interfered with negotiations.

“The player has been dreaming about the PL since childhood.”
