Newcastle United and West Ham United are in a battle to sign AS Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has played 114 times in all competitions for the French side and helped them win Ligue 1 in 2016/17.

However, despite being an integral member of their squad over the past three years, radio station RMC (via Inside Futbol) claim that he will be allowed to leave this summer.

Sidibe has won 18 caps for France.

It’s thought that both the Hammers and the Magpies have held talks over bringing the 2018 World Cup winner to the Premier League.

Irons boss Manuel Pellegrini and Magpies chief Steve Bruce are both looking to add to their squads before the transfer window shuts on August 8.

And the addition of a defender who’s played for Les Bleus, in the Champions League and over 270 club career games is viewed as potentially good business by both clubs.
