The path is clear for Liverpool to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot after a proposed move to FC Barcelona collapsed, according to reports.

The Frenchman will depart the Ligue 1 champions on a free transfer in the summer when his contract expires.

It was thought that the 24-year-old would put pen-to-paper on a pre-contract agreement with the Catalan giants.

However, Football Insider now report that the potential transfer has now broken down and that Rabiot is now keen on moving to Liverpool.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has frozen Adrien Rabiot out of the PSG squad.

The playmaker, who was part of Manchester City’s academy in 2008, has been linked with a move to Anfield, along with fellow Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

A six-time France international, Rabiot has played 227 times for PSG since joining from Toulouse but has not appeared since December 2018 when he made it clear he would not be extending his stay with the club.
