Shoot!’s FA Cup Awards (Fifth Round)

Team of the Round: Lincoln City

Unbelievable. Nothing else to say. Danny Cowley’s side have simply gone against what seems to be the common belief that the magic FA Cup is dead, or dying.

As if they hadn’t already made enough of a name for themselves with heroic wins over Championship sides Ipswich Town and Brighton, they only went one better with a win away at Burnley.

Earning a replay would have been great for the club, more revenue to add to the already huge turnover this magical run has earned them.

But no, an 89th minute winner for the Imps meant they’re already in the hat for the next round, the quarter-final. In doing so they broke an FA Cup record, becoming the first non-league team to reach the quarter final in 1o3 years.

The defining moment was Sean Raggetts’s header in the dying embers of the game at Turf Moor. A place where only three other teams have won this season.

A fantastic achievement, a win, and a run that has rightly written Lincoln City in FA Cup legend.

Next up, Arsenal!
