Goal of the Round: Chris Maguire (Oxford United)

In the end it wasn’t to be for Oxford United, as their respectable cup run came to an end at the hands of Middlesbrough.

They did however enjoy the game’s best goal, and the round’s finest strike.

At 2-0 down, Chris Maguire scored the first of two goals in two minutes to get Oxford on level terms, before they later went on to miss out on at least a replay, due to a late goal from Christian Stuani.

But what a goal it was!

A free-kick on the edge of the box presented the former Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United winger with a chance to put The Yellows back in the game, and with a curling, Pirlo-esque effort he duly did.

A stunning effort, over the wall and beyond the diving Brad Guzan in the Boro goal. Well worthy of Goal of the Round!
