Liverpool have a bad past with American investment previously, with George Gillett and Tom Hicks, who forced the club into huge financial problems due to the money they loaned to originally buy the club. And so Liverpool fans can be forgiven for not being fully behind new investor John Henry to begin with. However, the financial backing that they provided to manager Brendan Rodgers was a welcome to fans who haven’t seen their side lift the Premier League trophy in over 20 years. Looking back now, the wrong players were bought and so the investments didn’t pay off, but Henry has shown his intent on letting the manager deal with the football side, and he will provide the money. Now with Jurgen Klopp in charge, backing in the transfer market can only be positive in the eyes of a Liverpool fan.
