These 2 Tottenham stars must leave in January for their own good

Pochettino has implemented a back three in recent weeks, but there has been no place for Austrian international Kevin Wimmer in the Spurs defence.

And, when you’re struggling to get into a side playing three centre-backs, you know that you’re out of favour and could probably do with a move away in the near future.

The 24-year-old has started three Premier League games for Spurs this season, although his first start of the campaign saw him score an own goal in the North London derby against Arsenal back in November, which was indicative of his tricky afternoon at the Emirates.

A few further starts have taken place since then against Chelsea and Watford, two games in which he did okay but not brillaint, yet it’s clear that he’s not a first choice at White Hart Lane and thus he should look for a move away this month.

Tottenham are unlikely to sell Wimmer, as he clearly has got the potential to be a great centre-back, yet a loan move could help his development.

The recent injury to Jan Vertonghen could halt any potential move, but Southampton are reportedly monitoring the Austrian defender and, if Virgil van Dijk and Jose Fonte were to leave this month, Wimmer would certainly be guaranteed first team football at St Mary’s.
