The Russian joined Arsenal from Zenit Saint Petersburg in January 2009 for a fee in the region of £14m.

Arshavin was one of the top players in the world at the time after finishing in sixth place for the 2008 Ballon d’or award.

The forward went onto make 145 appearances for the club, scoring 31 times and making 46 assists, before returning to previous club Zenit in July 2013.

He is most famously remembered for scoring four goals in one game in an eventful 4-4 draw away at Liverpool in April 2009.

In the same month, the former Russian Player of the Year won the Premier League Player of the Month award just three months after arriving in England.

Arshavin is now playing for Kairat Almaty in the Kazakhstan Premier League.
