Daniel Sturridge had fallen out of favour at Chelsea at the start of the 2012/13 season, and Brendan Rodgers saw an opportunity to bring the striker to Anfield.

And he did just that for £12 million in January 2013, and it’s turned out to be an excellent buy.

The England international went on to net 11 goals in just 16 games in his first six months at the club, and then scored 24 in his first full season in 2013/14.

Injury struggles have hampered his progress in recent times, but Sturridge is still a quality striker who can make the key difference in the final third.

He has only got five goals in 13 appearances this season, but Liverpool have certainly got their money’s worth from the 27-year-old over the last few years.
