This was a rumour that surprised many when it became apparent at the end of October.

Barcelona are on the look-out for a right-back following Dani Alves’ departure in the summer, and they were linked with a stunning move for Nathaniel Clyne.

The England international has enjoyed a rapid rise in recent years, and earned himself a big money move to Anfield last year having performed brilliantly for Southampton.

However, it’s highly unlikely that Liverpool would sell the 25-year-old given his importance to the Reds’ backline, and reports in Spain suggest that they want a ‘low-cost’ right-back, which Clyne certainly isn’t.
