It may be in the early stages of his central midfield career, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks a natural in that position.

The England international has struggled for gametime this season, despite scoring more goals this term than any other since he moved to the Emirates, yet the depletion of Wenger’s midfield options saw the 23-year-old start against Chelsea a few weeks back.

And, although he did struggle at times, he was much better than Francis Coquelin, and does deserve some credit given he was up against the formidable N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic.

Yet it was his display against Hull last weekend which received many plaudits, leading many to suggest that it’s his place to lose now over the coming weeks.

Oxalde-Chamberlain is clearly enjoying in the role and is playing well in it, so could be key if the Gunners are to reel Chelsea in come May.
