Where better to produce one of the greatest comebacks than a Champions League final? This is what Liverpool managed to do after goals from Paolo Maldini and two from Hernan Crespo had given Milan a 3-0 lead at the break.

A seven-minute spell of madness at the start of the second half saw Liverpool back on level terms though, taking the game into extra-time.

The match ended with a penalty shoot-out, where Jerzy Dudek and his “spaghetti legs” wrote Liverpool into the history books.

Dubbed the ‘Miracle of Istanbul’, Liverpool had completed the most miraculous of comebacks on the biggest stage of all – let’s just hope too many tickets didn’t get ripped up with fans leaving early at half-time…
