A cult figure at Leicester City and sometimes a figure of fun in the Premier League, Emile Heskey developed a fearsome reputation in his early days at Filbert Street.

Progressing through the youth system at Leicester City, the powerful forward was in the same team as Neil Lennon that lifted two League Cups.

In total, the England international made 197 appearances for the Foxes and scored a respectable 46 goals. In fact, he found himself on the fringes of the national set-up in his time in the East Midlands.

Nonetheless, Anfield then came calling in March 1999. Gerard Houllier secured the deal for Heskey with a then club-record £11m bid and it was tough for then cash-strapped Leicester to refuse.

Whilst on Merseyside, he won an unprecedented treble of UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup, forming a deadly partnership with Michael Owen.

In a 22-year career in football, Heskey has made 786 appearances and has scored 164 goals for the likes of Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and even the Newcastle Jets.
