Top 5: Premier League deals to be done before Deadline Day

Danilo Pereira

Arsenal are said to be keeping tabs on Porto’s defensive midfielder Danilo Pereira, who was part of Portugal’s winning Euro 2016 squad last summer.

Despite the player being under contract until 2020, the 25-year-old has a £34.5m release clause in his contract and Arsene Wenger may activate this before the end of the month.

Whilst central midfield might be a slightly surprising area for The Gunners boss to target, given the recent acquisitions of Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny, the north London outfit have had to use a host of combinations across midfield so far this season.

With Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla all spending time on the sidelines, Jack Wilshere on loan at Bournemouth and Xhaka seeming to be struggling to get to grips with English football, Wenger might want to shake things up and introduce further competition for places.

If the club follows up their initial interest, the acquisition of the former Benfica player could prove to be a great bit of business in this window.
