A reunion with his former Southampton manager could be in the offing for United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The 26-year-old has made just one Premier League appearance for Mourinho’s side this season, and that was for just five minutes in their win at Bournemouth on the opening weekend of the campaign.

A few Europa League and League Cup starts have followed, but the French international doesn’t look like breaking into the team consistently, which seems strange given United’s central midfield issues this season.

Nevertheless, a move to Tottenham could reignite Schneiderlin’s faltering career under a manager who would place a lot of confidence in him. With European football this season, Pochettino needs a big enough squad to deal with those demands, and Schneiderlin would certainly give him another option in midfield.

There was talk of a deal for the French midfielder in the summer, but it was reportedly blocked by Mourinho as Schneiderlin remained in his plans.

Yet, just six appearances later, it doesn’t look like he has much of a future at Old Trafford.

why would we buy Schneiderlin when we already have Dembele, Wanyama, Dier and Sissoko who play in the same positions? Same goes for Phil Jones. Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Wimmer are all better than Jones and Dier is versatile enough to play there as well. We need a reliable striker to supplement Kane, not more players in positions where we are already strong
