What’s Hot and What’s Not from this weekend in the Premier League

NOT – Sunderland

After beating Crystal Palace 4-0 last time out, Sunderland fans would have been confident of getting something from their home match with out-of-form Southampton on Saturday.

But it didn’t quite go to plan for David Moyes’ men, who suffered a 4-0 thumping against Claude Puel’s side to keep them bottom of the Premier League.

Two goals from new signing Manolo Gabbiadini, as well as a strike from Shane Long and an own goal from Jason Denayer, capped off a miserable afternoon on Wearside for the Black Cats, who were second-best as soon as the Saints got their opener after 30 minutes.

Their only saving grace was that several sides around them lost as well, but only wins will keep Sunderland up now, and a home game against a struggling side was a great opportunity to get one.
