Ajax are considering a bid for Brighton and Hove Albion star midfielder Davy Propper, according to The Argus.

The Netherlands international signed for the Seagulls in 2017 for £6million and has since made 65 appearances, scoring just once in a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City earlier this year.

The Amex Stadium outfit could make a healthy profit on the creative midfielder, with Dutch giants Ajax debating over a £15million bid for the former PSV man.

Albion narrowly avoided relegation last season and soon appointed former Swansea City manager Graham Potter after the sacking of Chris Hughton.

Brighton appointed Potter earlier this month.

This could mean that if Propper does not fit the system Potter wishes to implement on the South Coast then owner Tony Bloom may opt to cash-in on the versatile and hard-working central midfielder.

Ajax have recently lost homegrown talent Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona and are at risk of losing club captain Matthijs de Ligt so will have a fair amount of funds to bring in fresh talent as they look to retain the Eredivise next season.

The Champions League semi-finalists have previously prized Premier League stars Daley Blind and Dusan Tadic to Amsterdam so will be keen to add Propper to their collection of acquisitions from England’s top-flight.
