Arsenal have launched a bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier, according to reports.

The Belgium international has fallen down the pecking order in France this term, making just 19 starts in Ligue 1.

And now TUTTOmercatoWEB report that the Gunners have offered £22million as they attempt to bring the 27-year-old to the Emirates.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is working on a smaller transfer budget than his rivals after his side missed out on Champions League qualification via the Premier and Europe League.

The Spanish chief is looking to bolster a backline which leaked goals on numerous occasions in key games, most notably in the 4-1 Europa League final defeat against Chelsea.

And having signed Meunier when he was in charge of PSG, Emery wants to work with the player once more.

Current right-back Hector Bellerin is still fighting his way back to full fitness while back-up Stephan Lichtsteiner has left the North London outfit.

This means if a deal is struck, Meunier would likely start the 2019/20 campaign as first-choice.
