Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is to have talks over a possible move to D.C. United, according to reports.

The MLS side are looking for a replacement for Wayne Rooney, who will leave Washington in January to join Championship side Derby County as a player-coach.

And the Mirror report that the United States outfit are keen to bring in the 2014 World Cup winner to fill the void to be left by the ex-England captain.

It’s claimed that D.C. have scheduled initial discussions with the 30-year-old’s representatives in the US capital next week.

Mesut Ozil could be moved on from Arsenal.

The Gunners are open to offloading the 30-year-old, who earns a club-high £350,000-per-week, with Unai Emery unconvinced he is a regular starter.

In the Spaniard’s first season in charge at the Emirates, the former Germany international started just 20 Premier League games.

Overall, since his £42.4million switch from Real Madrid in 2013, Ozil has made 231 appearances for Arsenal, winning three FA Cups.
