Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata reportedly looks set to depart the club with Atletico Madrid interested in his signature.

The 30-year-old has endured a frustrating season at Old Trafford and is out of contract in the summer.

This means he’ll be able to leave the Red Devils for nothing and, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Atletico are keen on striking a deal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to overhaul a squad which has now lost seven of its last nine matches in all competitions following the 2-0 defeat at home to rivals Manchester City.

It’s been a tough season for Mata and Manchester United.

And the exit of Mata along with fellow mainstays Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera, whose deals are also up, could spark the start of the Norwegian boss’ makeover.

Since signing from Chelsea for £37.1million in January 2014, Mata has played 216 times for United.

The 41-time Spain international has helped the club win the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League in his five-and-a-half-year stay.
