Liverpool will once again try to persuade Real Madrid to sell Marco Asensio to them this summer, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has struggled for a disappointing Los Blancos this term, starting just 18 La Liga matches.

Jurgen Klopp was linked with a swoop for the Spain international last summer following Philippe Coutinho’s switch to FC Barcelona six months prior.

And now Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo are reporting that the German boss will try again a year later.

However, the playmaker has a contract until 2023 with Real that comes with a whopping release-clause of over £600million.

Asensio has endured a frustrating campaign.

Added to that, despite a poor season by his standards, president Florentino Perez is still a big fan and it’s thought that he would be reluctant to sell the former Mallorca star.

Asensio has played 133 games for Real Madrid, where he has won nine major honours in just under five years.

He’s scored 27 goals in the famous white shirt including one in the 2017 Champions League final against Juventus.
