Manchester City are considering making a bid for Leicester City’s Harry Maguire, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League champions are looking for a replacement for long-time captain, Vincent Kompany, who will leave the Etihad to return to Anderlecht as a player-manager.

City boss, Pep Guardiola, is reportedly making Maguire his number one option to replace the outgoing skipper.

The Citizens will face stiff competition to sign the England international with city rivals Manchester United having been interested in him since his fantastic showing at the 2018 World Cup.

Maguire starred for England at the 2018 World Cup.

It is thought that a record-sum for a defender – which currently stands at £75million – may be needed to secure the centre-back, as Leicester and their boss Brendan Rodgers are not keen to sell.

The 26-year-old has been an integral part of the Foxes team since arriving at the King Power from Hull City in 2017, helping them reach ninth place this season for the second year in a row.

Gareth Southgate gave the ex-Sheffield United star his international debut in 2017 in a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania, and he has gone on to win 18 caps for the Three Lions so far.
