Manchester United are ready to try and bring Alex Sanchez’s disappointing spell with the club to an end, according to The Sun.

The Chilean earns a reported club-high £505,000 per-week after signing from Arsenal in a swap-deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January 2018.

However, Sanchez has really struggled for form at Old Trafford which has led to criticism from supporters and pundits alike.

Despite scoring just five times for the Red Devils in 41 appearances though, it’s claimed United are hoping to still receive a fee of around £50million for the 30-year-old.

Sanchez has struggled to find anywhere near his best form at Old Trafford.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to freshen up his squad this summer in order to get the club in a position to try and challenge for the title next term.

And although he wanted to give Sanchez a fresh start after taking over from Jose Mourinho in December, performances and recent knee injury mean the Norwegian reportedly doesn’t see the forward as part of his plans.

It’s also thought that shifting the former Barcelona star off the wage-bill could result in them agreeing a contract extension with goalkeeper David de Gea, who is out of contract in the summer of 2020.
