West Ham United have seen an £18million bid for Andre Gomes turned down by FC Barcelona, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has finished a season-long loan spell at Everton, where he played 29 matches in all competitions.

Now, having impressed in the Premier League, Sky Sports report that the Hammers are trying to bring the Portugal international to England on a permanent basis.

Gomes played 27 Premier League matches in his spell on Merseyside.

However, it’s thought that the Catalan giants want between £25-35million for the playmaker who still has two years left on his current deal.

Gomes moved to the Camp Nou in 2016 from Valencia for a fee in the region of £29million but he has struggled to establish himself despite making 78 appearances.

Manuel Pellegrini enjoyed a decent first season in charge at West Ham, helping the Irons to a tenth placed finish.
